second Life:  A Vital Strategy

When the hard work of identifying, shaping, and pitching a news story pays off in quality coverage, you cannot assume that everybody you hoped to reach sees the story.

So, give your story a second life.  Duplicate it and send it to key supporters, clients, friends, donors, and anyone else you think should know more about you.  Don't forget your own staff!

You can do this with electronic coverage, too.  Video and audio tracking services can find and duplicate clips for you.  Do some comparison shopping among these services.  Prices vary and duplicating video is expensive if you require a large number of copies.  You can use a single copy of TV coverage to generate second life by showing the clip at Board meetings, organizational gatherings, and (especially) at fundraisers – an ideal chance to show donors where the money goes.
