FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How are fees determined?

The WHPR Capacity Building Program is available on a sliding scale which takes into account the size, requirements and capabilities of the individual organization. The base rate for the WHPR Capacity Building Program is $3,000.00.

WHPR’s Mastering The MediaTM Workshops are available for registration fees which vary depending on the configuration you select. As a general rule, we recommend that everyone take Mastering Media I as a prerequisite to II and III. Information about the Workshop schedule and registration information are available on our website, www.whpr.com.

WHPR Strategic Roundtables commence with the registration of at least 8 participants (WHPR screens all applicants to determine suitability). The sessions, which take place once each month for a total of six months and last between ninety minutes and two hours, cost $325.00.

What’s the difference between the Mastering The MediaTM Workshops and the WHPR Capacity Building Program?

Mastering The MediaTM Workshops are significantly less personalized than the Capacity Building Program.

While much of the content for WHPR Capacity Building is drawn from the workshops, Capacity Building focuses exclusively on the specific needs and programs within your organization. The workshops are by necessity less focused on individual organizations and more focused on theory and practice for nonprofits in general.

The workshop programs do not include an audit of your current programs, capabilities and organizational structure, whereas the Capacity Building Program is constructed to improve and enhance those existing capabilities.

We recommend Capacity Building for those organizations which are well-established and which have

full time, professional staff and an active Board of Directors.

We recommend Mastering The MediaTM Workshops for start-up organizations, associations and nonprofits which have generated limited (or no) media coverage and individuals who want to sharpen their public relations skills as a supplement to their current assignments within their organization.

Can Capacity Building Address specific programs or initiatives which we already have in place?

Absolutely. The first phase of WHPR Capacity Building is an audit which takes into account not only your management and staffing but current and planned programs. If you have initiatives which require the support of a quality communications campaign, your audit will take that into account and the capacity building program which follows the audit will incorporate those initiatives.

How much time does WHPR’s Capacity Building Program take?

The audit phase of the program typically takes several hours in a single session. The training phase can require a few days, but these can be scheduled to allow for minimum disruption to your day-to-day activities. Once the training is complete, you will dedicate more time to media and marketing than you did before; WHPR will be available for up to 10 hours of consultation as you implement your campaign.

Are there other requirements for Capacity Building?

Yes: WHPR insists that at least one (and preferably more than one) of your Board of Directors attend the audit and training session.

Can we bring Mastering The MediaTM to our community?

Yes, you can. The program is designed to adapt to specific media markets including small and medium-sized towns. There are some base registration requirements including a minimum of 15 registrants, appropriate presentation facilities, and meal service or catering. If your organization wishes to serve as a sponsor for Mastering The MediaTM, WHPR will gladly work with you to coordinate promoting the workshops in your town.

How Do I assess which programs provide the greatest benefit to my organization?

Give us a call or email us – we’ll gladly discuss your specific needs with you and help you determine which program is best for you.

Are Strategic Roundtables designed for organizations?

No. The Roundtables have been created specifically to allow senior, seasoned nonprofit Executives to share best practices, explore techniques and strategies and develop stronger media and marketing management skills. WHPR limits enrollment in any single Roundtable to 10 people in order that each can derive maximum benefit.
